With the deadline for project completion in the Gorbals and other LCITP funded projects being 7th December 2018, work in the final design phase is well advanced. Dave Pearson takes time to jot down some thoughts from the journey so far but more importantly what society and our leaders need to achieve if we are to see these projects become the norm as we bid to achieve our carbon reduction goals. Whether you take the goal as 2030, 2040 or 2050, the progress required is massive as to date we have around 4% of heat from renewable sources and we ultimately need pretty close to 100%. That set against a back drop of new buildings still being built with gas boilers and it’s fair to say we aren’t really on a new path…………yet although we do appear now to know where it goes.
